Are you afraid of hospital?
Last Friday, I had an annual health checking at the National
Hospital of Hematology and Blood Transfusion (Viện huyết học & Truyền máu
Trung ương) which is among the benefits for all employees of my company. On
this occasion, I decide to note down on my blog a topic about heath as well as
some “fancy” words for it.
Have you ever taken any health examination by
yourself?
I cannot speak for all people, but from my observe from
people around me, we normally do not have the routine to go to the hospital for
careful health checking every year. For most people, they only come to the
hospital one day when their bodies are not feeling good. Sometimes, it is too
late for any medical treatments. That reminds me the case of my high school
friend who passed away only 6 months after being diagnosed of getting lung
cancer. R.I.P him.
Moreover, in order to get health certificate for some paper
procedures like applying for a job or signing in for a study course, people usually
take a simple heath checking which is no more than just a look from doctors,
which can only detect the symptoms of several obvious illnesses, I think. It is
really rare that they request for further medical treatments like blood or
x-ray examination. The simple causes might be time-comsuming and relatively
high cost to normal people (for example, a full health checking service package
may cost around 2 million VN dong ~ 100 US dollars).
The view from my apartment at 7a.m. Fog or harmful smoke?
Yes, I am. That is not only my answer but also the common
thought when I ask my colleages. Hospital phobia is nature instinct. In my
mind, hospital is a place where contains lots of infectious and contagious virus
of fatal diseases. When you are in a hospital, you are also at risk of
acquiring a virus. You are supposed to get better there, but you can get so
much worse.
What am I practicing to avoid going to hospital?
I remember in the past, I had to suffer from a lot of bodily
discomforts. I would get severe neckache, sore throat, or stomachache. My
health at the time was deteriorating and it costed me bunch of money. Therefore,
I always tell myself to keep doing exercises to reduce the risk of getting diseases.
I usually do some activites to improve my fitness. I have
became a member of LG’s football team since I joined the company. We often play
one or two matches per week after working hours against other companies such as
FPT, LZT, etc. It not only helps us enhance our health, but also strengthens
the business relationships.
On the weekends, an indispensable part of my morning ritual
is running around the lake near my appartment. Running helps my body become
more refreshing and flexible. I also concentrate on improving the wellness of
my mental by meditation. Although, now I am not in the good shape for some
reasons, I would be soon. The positive thinking is very essential, do you agree
with me?
