Is winter coming to my hometown?

Image
It is really cold right now in Vinh city. The temperature suddenly drops about 10 degrees within a day. This small heat change was predicted by the weather forecast agency, but I still find it intolerable. That’s why this post came out of my mind. An old picture taken under the rain near my house. Is it beautiful? It has been a while since the last time I welcomed the monsoon at my hometown. Unlike Hanoi where it only decreases the temperature, the monsoon brings continuous drizzles to Vinh city - what makes the cold even more extreme. Till now, it has rained for two consecutive days without any interruption. I have to admit that this terrible situation is not my cup of tea. I am the kind of person who is terrified of the hot and the cold. I would prefer it be sunny and warm outside. Tell me, what kind of weather you love? From scientific view, Vinh is located in the North Central of Vietnam and in the tropical region that means it has 4 distinctive seasons. The winte...

Vinh city – Hometown and a family event

It has been 3 months since the last time I visited my hometown for summer break. It was a blast when I hanged out with my old friends to enjoy fresh and cheap seafoods and couple of beers along the beach. Now the winter is comming, I got 4 day-off including weekend to take some rest and take part in a small family-event which I want to share on my blog. My hometown is Vinh, the city of Nghe An province. It is located in the North Central of Vietnam, beside the River Lam. I was born and raised there before I moved to Hanoi capital for the university entrance 8 years ago. Nghe An is well known for the birthplace of President Ho Chi Minh who is the founder of Viet Nam . I think what make my hometown special is our distinctive accents and dialects. (E.g. “mi đưng mần chi đó?” = “mày đang làm gì đấy?” = “What are you doing?”. Sometimes I find it kind of funny. Me and our dog Red in his “house” I arrived home one day before the 1 st anniversary of my uncle’s death following...

Are you afraid of hospital?

Image
Last Friday, I had an annual health checking at the National Hospital of Hematology and Blood Transfusion (Viện huyết học & Truyền máu Trung ương) which is among the benefits for all employees of my company. On this occasion, I decide to note down on my blog a topic about heath as well as some “fancy” words for it. Have you ever taken any health examination by yourself? I cannot speak for all people, but from my observe from people around me, we normally do not have the routine to go to the hospital for careful health checking every year. For most people, they only come to the hospital one day when their bodies are not feeling good. Sometimes, it is too late for any medical treatments. That reminds me the case of my high school friend who passed away only 6 months after being diagnosed of getting lung cancer. R.I.P him. Moreover, in order to get health certificate for some paper procedures like applying for a job or signing in for a study course, people usually take a simp...
